FUNERAL SERVICES ON WED. FOR MRS. JENNIE BROWN

Mrs. Jennie (Lucetta Jane) Brown, age 90, of 1601 4th Ave., the widow of Frank O. Brown, passed away Sunday evening, November 20, at St. Francis hospital. She had not been in the best of health for several years and was hospitalized three weeks ago with a fractured hip.

Funeral services for Jennie Brown will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne A. Shireman, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Willard Heffner. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

She was the daughter of William and Ella Lancaster Holmes and was born in Lynnville, Iowa, on Nov. 21, 1876. She attended the schools near her home and later was married to Frank Oral Brown on Oct. 12, 1899. To this union were born six children of whom five survive: Fred M. Brown of Seattle, Washington; Leslie H. Brown of Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Lucille Lovig of Los Angeles, Calif.; Frank L. Brown of Grinnell; and Mrs. Paul (Genevieve) Mahannah of Keokuk.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown had farmed in several locations in Poweshiek county until her husband's death on April 24, 1927. In 1932, she moved to Grinnell where she has since made her home. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Spanish-American War Veterans, and had attended the First Baptist church. She is survived by her five children; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; and an 18-year-old daughter, Grace Louise, who passed away on Oct. 19, 1938.
