HARRY J. CANVIN DIES THURSDAY, LAST RITES THIS AFTERNOON

Harry J. Canvin, a resident of Grinnell since 1924, passed away at about 11 o'clock Thursday night at the family home at 922 Reed Street in Grinnell, after an illness of almost five years.

For many years Mr. Canvin was proprietor of the Grinnell Cleaners, at 815 Fourth Avenue. He sold that place several years ago. However, it was discontinued only last summer.

Harry Canvin was the son of Francis and Raechel Canvin, and was born in Cleveland, Iowa, June 25, 1887.

June 17, 1917, he was united in marriage to Olive Dille at Oskaloosa. No children were born to this union.

Two sisters and two brothers survive. They are: Mrs. Alice Lyles and Madalene Canvin of Ames; Lewis F. Canvin of Pasadena, Calif., and John E. Canvin of Oklahoma City.

Mr. Canvin came to Grinnell from Iowa City in 1924.

He was a member of the Methodist church.

Funeral services were held today at the Smith Funeral Home, in charge of Rev. W.F. Overhulser of the Grinnell Methodist church.

Music at the funeral was by Mrs. Dolph Miller and Mrs. Roscoe Dempster. Pallbearers were Ross Coutts, Shell Criswell, Ernest Brignon, Bill Kuenenman, Tom Sanders and Al Wilson.

Masonic memorial services were conducted by Sharp Lannom and Hermon lodge No. 273, Grinnell.

Burial was made in Hazelwood cemetery, Grinnell.
