Mrs. Woomer Spent Many Years of Her Life As a Resident of This Community.

------------------------

Loretta Cratty, daughter of Wm. and Mary Cratty was born in Delaware Co., Ohio, November 19, 1853 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.C. Dickerson, 1019 West St., Grinnell, Iowa, March 11, 1925, age 72 years.

When she was two years old she moved with her parents to Indianapolis, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. In 1872 she was united in marriage to David Woomer, who preceded her in death, 1887. To them were born eight children, seven of whom are living and were present at their mother's funeral.

Mr. and Mrs. Woomer lived on a farm 5 miles east of Grinnell until 1882 when they moved to Elgin, Nebraska, where they resided till after her husband's death. In 1891 Mrs. Woomer and her family returned to Grinnell where she has since lived, the last nine years making her home with her daughter Mrs. Dickerson.

Mrs. Woomer was a devoted Christian woman, obeying and following her Lord and Master since she was 15 years of age. At that time she united with the Church of Christ and has continued to be a loyal member of the same. Her beautiful Christian character has been an inspiration to her children and to all who have had the privilege of association with her.

The following are the names of hr children: Viola, Mrs. A.C. Dickerson, Grinnell; Adam, deceased; Mrs. William Parker, New Sharon; B.H. Woomer, Grinnell; J.E. Woomer, LeMars, Ia.; Mrs. P.H. Coons, Des Moines, Ia.; Mrs. L.W. Middledorf, Beloit, Wisconsin, D.H. Woomer, Des Moines. Besides these there are left to mourn her passing away 18 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, also three brothers, Chas. H. Cratty, Grinnell; Wm. H. Cratty, Elgin, Neb.; James Cratty, Edna, Kansas, and two sisters Mrs. J.E. Totten, Elgin, Neb.; and Mrs. A.E. Williams, Sacramento, Cal. These with a large company of other relatives and friends are pleased to pay tribute of affection to the memory of a loving mother and generous friend, looking with Christian hope to the time when there will be a glorious reunion.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the A.C. Dickerson home, conducted by Rev. W.J. Todd. Burial was in Hazelwood.
