SARAH JANE MACY
Sarah Jane Macy was born in Indiana on the 11th of December, 1830. On the 9th of June, 1851, she was united in marriage to Himelius Rayl and with him moved to this county five years later and settled on a farm near Lynnville. She died at her home on the 18th of December and was buried in the Friends cemetery in Sugar Creek township Saturday, the funeral services having been conducted the day before by the Rev. Joseph Arnold, assisted by the Rev. Robert Lincoln. Mrs. Rayl was a devout christian lady of strong character, one who did not shrink from the hardships of life or its duties and was fully prepared to meet beloved ones gone before. Of her father's family three brothers survive her: Jason Macy of Oskaloosa, Seth Macy of Lynnville, and Prof. Jesse Macy of this city.
