A.L. SHATTUCK DIES IN LENAPAH, OKLA.

A.L. Shattuck, once principal of the schools at Malcom and afterwards county superintendent for several terms, died at his home in Lenapah, Oklahoma last Thursday. Mr. Shattuck was, in the seventies and eighties, principal at Malcom and served later as county superintendent. All the teachers of those days will remember the kindhearted and helpful man who made it a pleasure to teach under his supervision. After leaving Poweshiek County he engaged in school work practically all his life.

For some time he has been incapacitated by a series of light shocks which would enfeeble him for a short time but which he nearly always overcame. He had, however, for some time been unable to work because of his growing weakness.

Mrs. Shattuck, a former teacher of this county came to Montezuma last Saturday where the burial took place. She has returned to Oklahoma but probably will later come back to this county to locate permanently.
