MARJORY THOMPSON

Marjory Fleener Thompson, 77, of Eldora, formerly of Grinnell, died Saturday, Dec. 24, at Valley View Nursing Center in Eldora.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Anne James of Hampton officiating. Organist was Alice Renaud, and pallbearers were David Allen, George Christinson, Paul Christinson, Ray Clifton, Arthur Fleener and George Hafkey.

Burial was in Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hardin County Home Care Givers or to Hospice of North Central Iowa.

She was the daughter of Louis and Maude Pugh Hafkey and was born Dec. 15, 1917, in Chester Township. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school.

On March 21, 1936, she was married to Woodrow Fleener at Rock Island, Ill. The couple lived in Grinnell and later farmed west of Grinnell.

Mr. Fleener died in 1951, and she was married to Ralph Thompson Feb. 13, 1953. They farmed near Grinnell and later in northern Iowa. They also lived in Cedar Falls and Clarkridge, Ark. Mr. Thompson died in 1988, and in 1989 she moved to Eldora to be near her son.

She is survived by one son, Louis Fleener of Eldora; one daughter, Linda K. Ulmer of Clarkridge, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Darla L. Davis of Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Clifton of Grinnell; and one brother, Orville Hafkey of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and both her husbands.
