MAYE ELLEN MITCHELL

Maye Ellen Mitchell, 87, of Grinnell died Monday, Nov. 13, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist will be Margaret Wheeler, and pallbearers will be Gean, Clayton and Lyle Tiedemann and Chad Means. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

She was the daughter of Olin E. and Moudesta E. Gould Talbott, and was born Sept. 19, 1908, in Brooklyn. She was raised and received her education there.

She was married to Lyle A. Tiedemann Oct. 18, 1929, in Newton. They lived in Brooklyn before moving to Grinnell in 1933. They were later divorced, and she was married to Howard L. Mitchell Nov. 2, 1949, in Sheffield. They continued to live in Grinnell.

She assisted people in their homes, worked at Ted's Eat Restaurant for several years and was employed for 20 years as a nurse's aide at St. Francis Manor.

She was a member of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church for many years.

Surviving are her son, Clayton of Sarcoxie, Mo.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; one son, Olin; and a brother, Asa Talbott.

A Maye E. Mitchell Memorial Fund has been established.
