MARY CRAWFORD RITES CONDUCTED

Mrs. Mary N. Crawford, 68, the wife of John P. Crawford of 1500 Davis Ave., died at noon Monday (June 7) at Grinnell General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

The daughter of John and Anna Schuh Burow Sr., she was born on Oct. 9, 1902, at Anthon, Iowa. On Feb. 11, 1925, she was married to John Peterson Crawford at Sioux City. The couple had five children.

Mr. and Mrs. Crawford made their home in the Anthon and Malcom communities before coming to Grinnell in 1932. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Mrs. Crawford is survived by her husband John; her five children, Donald J., Richard P., and Clark W., all of Grinnell, Phirman J. of Cleburne, Tex., and Mrs. Donald (Esther) Henning of Kellogg; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four brothers, John Burow of Sioux City, George and Fred Burow and Albert Forch, all of Anthon. She was preceded in death by five grandchildren; a brother, Adam Forch; and a sister, Mrs. Rachel Downing.

Requiem Mass for Mrs. Crawford was said at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at St. Mary's Catholic church with the Rev. Leo V. Kuebrich, pastor of the church, officiating. Music was provided by Miss Wilma Schmitz and Mrs. Ruth Ann Dayton.

Pallbearers were Ben Crawford, Richard Crawford Jr., John Crawford, Jim Crawford, Neil Crawford, and Joe Crawford. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home.
