Fredricka DeBies Memorial Held

Fredricka Ann Nelson DeBies, 38, a former Brooklyn resident and graduate of Grinnell College who had resided in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, for the past 12 years, died Dec. 28 in Rotterdam.

Memorial services were held Jan. 2 in the Methodist Presbyterian Church in Oxford, Ark.

She was born June 13, 1948, in Grinnell, the daughter of Fred C. and Darlene Nelson. She attended BGM Community School. While a student at Grinnell College, she taught in the school of the original Community Art Association.

She is survived by a son, Justin T. DeBies, Brockwell, Ark.; her mother Darlene Nelson, Brockwell; a sister, Paula Calico, Rock, Ark.; and a brother, Michael, Brooklyn. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred C. Nelson, and one brother, Jeffrey C. Nelson.
