MEMORIAL SERVICES IN CALIFORNIA FOR MRS. GRANT RAMSEY

Memorial services for Mary Proctor Ramsey (Mrs. Grant), who died Sunday, Dec. 6, in San Diego, Calif., following an extended illness, were held in San Diego Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1964.

Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery, Grinnell.

Mrs. Ramsey, who was born in Grinnell, April 4, 1882, was the oldest child of Carrie Preston Proctor, and Frederic O. Proctor, members of pioneer families in the Grinnell area.

On June 1, 1904, she was united in marriage with Grant Ramsey of Grinnell where they made their home for 28 years. Their children, all of whom survive are: Frederic P. of Grinnell; John J. of Hinsdale, Ill.; Mrs. Elizabeth Lester of San Diego; and Mrs. Mary Rainey of Newport Beach, Calif.

During her years of residence in Grinnell, Mrs. Ramsey was an active member of the First Congregational church and of many organizations, including the PEO Sisterhood, DAR, Eastern Star, and Levart Club. She also served as a member of the Community Hospital Board of Directors.

Four years after Mr. Ramsey's death in 1932, Mrs. Ramsey and her two daughters moved to San Diego, where she has resided ever since. While living in San Diego, she contineud her church activity in the First Congregational church of that city and in the PEO Sisterhood where she was recently honored for her 60 years of membership.

In addition to her four children, Mrs. Ramsey is survived by a sister, Mrs. Alma Proctor Knapp of San Diego; Paul Proctor of Seattle, Wash.; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
