BEATON.--Jan. 1, 1887, Mrs. Loretta M. Beaton, of chronic gastritis, aged 57 years, 6 mos. and 11 days.

Mrs. Beaton came to Grinnell in June, 1855, on her wedding tour. She was, consequently one of the first settlers in this city, where she has resided continuously since. She was a woman of great excellence of character, which years of suffering served only to brighten and develop.
