Mrs. James McCoy died at her residence in Madison township on Friday, Nov. 24, 1899, aged 76 years, 11 months and 6 days. The funeral was held on Saturday conducted by Rev. D. Phillips, with sermon at the Haven M.E. church and interment in the Haven cemetery. Minerva Tracey was born in Lewis county, Kentucky, Dec. 18, 1822. She was united in marriage with James McCoy in 1850. By this union were born six children, four of whom are living. Mr. and Mrs. McCoy came to Madison township in 1867 and here they lived until his death which occurred in February 1898. Since that time Mrs. McCoy continued to live on the home place with her son, Thomas, who cared for her, with her daughter Abbie who made her home with her mother. Mrs. McCoy united with the M.E. church sixty years ago and has lived an earnest Christian life.
