META WEAVER

Meta Blanche Weaver, 93, of St. Francis Manor, formerly of Newburg, died at the manor Wednesday, April 30.

Graveside services were conducted Saturday morning at Prairie View Cemetery, Gilman, with the Rev. Ken Wallace, pastor of the Newburg-Chester United Church of Christ, officiating. The Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial fund will be established in her name.

She was born Oct. 27, *1903, at Hartford, Mo., to Alexander and Rhoda Woods Pickering. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school. Following her education, she moved to Gilman and worked in various homes.

She was married to Elmer S. Weaver Oct. 19, 1924, at Marshalltown, The couple lived at Newburg, where she was a homemaker.

Surviving are two sons, Lavern of Grinnell and Gaylord "Bee" of Park Rapids, Minn.; three daughters, Betty Anderson of Grinnell, Barbara Harrison of Englewood, Colo.; and Judy Puls of Birmingham, Ala.; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Jonathan, Charles, Thomas, John and Guy Pickering; and five sisters, Sylvia Morrow, Gertie Mathes, Maude Paul, and Dulcie and Hulda Pickering.
