DR. W.C. BURD

From a Cedar Rapids paper we have taken the following clipping of Dr. Walter Burd who died at Cedar Rapids a few days ago. Mr. Burd was a man of fine habits and character and was a success in the profession which he had adopted. Following is the clipping:

Dr. W.C. Burd, 53, died at his home, 1617 Park avenue, at 9:30 a.m. today following an illness of about a week. He had been ill of the flu but was able to be about until a week ago when he slipped on some ice. The resultant shock aggravated his condition and for the last three days he had been critically ill.

Dr. Burd came to Cedar Rapids twenty-five years ago with his wife. They were graduated from the Still Osteopathic college at Des Moines and began their practice here. He was born in Gilman Sept. 28, 1874, and spent his early years in Grinnell where he became a telegraph operator for the Western Union and where he married. Dr. Burd was a member of El Kahir temple of the Shrine and for several years was a member of the patrol. He was also a member of Iowa Consistory No. 2, Mt. Hermon lodge, A.F. and A.M., and Malta chapter, O.E.S.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. James Burd, and a brother, W.H. Burd, both of Minneapolis.
