GARY W. REID, 69

Gary W. Reid, age 69, of Grinnell, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at his home.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Gary was born the son of Leo W. and Gladys M. Taylor Reid on March 29, 1939, near Milan, Mo. His family moved to Iowa in the mid-1940s, and he attended schools in Kellogg and Grinnell.

Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed drag racing and his favorite driver was John Force. In his earlier years, he owned several high-performance Ford Mustangs and a Chevy Camaro. He raced these cars in drag events at the Eddyville Raceway Park in Eddyville. He enjoyed the company of his friends tremendously and was fortunate to have formed many loyal friendships throughout his lifetime.

Gary is survived by his mother, Gladys Reid of Grinnell; a brother, Jerry Reid of Grinnell; a sister, Karen Ashby of Grinnell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo.
