ACTIVE LIFE OF MRS. A.J. LAGRANGE ENDS

Sarah Emmaline Curtis was born in Hastings, Mich. 62 years ago. She moved to Indiana when about eight years old, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel C. Curtis. They came to Iowa in the year of 1881, and she has been a resident of Grinnell till her death.

She was born May 8, 1874, and married Sept. 1, 1889, to A.J. LaGrange of Grinnell. To this union were born seven children, six of whom are still living, Mrs. John Grubb, Mrs. S.E. Spears, Mrs. Frank Lacy and Floyd LaGrange, all of Grinnell, Mrs. Lester Anderson of Des Moines and Mrs. Elsie Craver of Pine Knot, Calif. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was a kind friend. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors.

Mrs. LaGrange had been ailing for a number of years but has carried her cross with patience and great endurance. She was comforting others, even unto the time of her death. To the last hour she was contributing her strength for the benefit of her husband, who mourns for her passing. She was not affiliated with any church, still she lived in the Christian faith and was a follower of Jesus Christ the Lord.
