MRS. DORA JONES DIED SATURDAY AT ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL

Dorothea Christina Curstens, daughter of Karl and Magdelene Dibbard Curstens, was born on October 31, 1864, in Pleum, Schlesig-Holstein, Germany. She passed away on August 6, 1949, at St. Francis hospital in Grinnell in her 85th year.

Leaving her family of sisters and brothers in Pleum, she came to Chester township at the age of 18, and made her home with a family who were neighbors from her former community.

On November 20,1886, she was united in marriage with Benjamin Jones. To this union were born eight children, five boys and three girls.

Her husband, one son William and a daughter, Mrs. Hilda Bruce, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Jones was a Christian woman, patient, kind, and understanding. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In later years she attended the United Presbyterian church in Grinnell.

Mrs. Jones was very fond of little children and in her later years derived great comfort and joy from her grandchildren.

Immediate members of her family surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Florence Kaisand and Mrs. Helen Pedersen of Grinnell and four sons, Ernest B., Harold W., Clifford L. of Grinnell and Carl C., of Newton.

The surviving grandchildren are Mrs. Mary Polka, Mrs. Herbert Kline, Mrs. Elmer Bell, Mrs. Frank Gagle, Mrs. Mable Green, Mrs. Jennie Tharp, Lee and Ralph Bruce, Alfred, Max, Kenneth and Ernest Jones Jr., Mildred and Kenneth Kaisand, Helen Sparks and Edith Hasselbrink, Ruth, Paul and Karl Pedersen, Barbara Creger, Robert and Harold L. Jones, Margaret Ann and Louise Jones.

She also leaves 35 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Smith funeral home. Rev. W.J. Stewart of the Grinnell United Presbyterian church was the minister in charge.

Pallbearers were: Alfred Jones, Harold L. Jones, Max Jones, Robert S. Jones, Kenneth Kaisand and Paul Pedersen.

Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.
