JAMES PULS SR.

James Puls Sr., 65, of 4207 Porter Addition, Grinnell, died Sunday, Nov. 27, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church north of Malcom, with the Rev. H. Eugene Cedarholm officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

The son of John and Mary Fogel Puls, he was born Dec. 3, 1928, in Malcom. He was raised on his parents' farm and attended school in the Malcom School District.

He was married to Sybil Shaw, Aug. 13, 1952, and the couple farmed north of Malcom until 1992 when they moved to their present residence.

Mr. Puls was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the Eagles Lodge and the Masonic Lodge. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean conflict.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Jim, Dale and Gary, all of Grinnell; two daughters, Shirley Puls of Cedar Rapids and Linda Baumgartner of Cedar Falls; a sister, Wilma Tharp of Marion; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Louis, John and Raymond.
