THURSDAY RITES FOR MRS. M. BREWER

Funeral services for Mrs. Maurice Brewer, 72, of Malcom were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church in Malcom with Rev. James Davidson officiating. Mrs. Brewer died July 3, 1967 at the Community hospital after a confinement of six weeks.

Mrs. Nellie Farley was organist and flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hall and Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Schneekloth. Burial was in Ivy Hill cemetery, Malcom, where graveside services were conducted by the Order of Eastern Star Lodge. Casket bearers were Tom H. Bowers, Eugene Mann, Raymond Tarvin, Edward Barnes, Paul Stone and Lewis Ford.

Sarah Jane Brewer, daughter of Henry and Alice Robb, was born February 28, 1895 in Arvilla, N.D. As a young child she came to the Malcom community where she attended school and graduated. She taught in the Malcom and Oskaloosa schools and served as a member of the Poweshiek country school board.

She was a member of the Malcom Presbyterian church, Order of Eastern Star lodge, Malcom Study Club and Malcom Garden club.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Maurine Harris and Mrs. Jean Schnoebelen, both of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Reynolds (Anna) Carpenter, Brooklyn, and Mrs. Irma Zirbel, Mitchellville; and four nieces.
