RAYMOND DUFFUS RITES HELD SUNDAY

Funeral services for Raymond G. Duffus were conducted by Mr. Dean Lankford Sunday afternoon, August 13, at the Steffy Funeral Home. Vocal music was provided by Mr. Lankford accompanied by Mrs. Nellie Doonan, organist.

Interment was in Masonic-IOOF Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Clarence Duffus, Glenn Connell, Walter Van Wyk, William Fitzsimmons, Raymond Smith and James Hobart.

Raymond G. Duffus, son of Alexander and Margaret Duffus, was born on a farm near Malcom on Jan. 23, 1881. His boyhood days were spent on a farm near Brooklyn. In 1900 the family moved to Montezuma where he attended high school.

On Feb. 19, 1908, he was married to Mary E. Sheley. After living in Arkansas for a while, he returned to Iowa and was in the implement business with his father and brother. He also had a real estate business in New Sharon. He owned and operated hotels in Longmont, Colo., Fremont, Neb., and Britt, Iowa.

In 1934 his health failed and he remained in hospitals continuously until his death on Thursday, Aug. 10, in the Britt, Iowa, hospital at 86 years of age.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Duffus of Long Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Owen Wilmoth and two grandchildren, Duff and Debbie Wilmoth, all of Belleflower, Calif.; a brother Charles Duffus of Littleton, Colo., and Ret Duffus of New Sharon.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; A.L. Duffus of Brooklyn and Archie C. Duffus of Northwood, Iowa; and two sisters, Olive G. Sparks of Des Moines, and Ethel Forcum of Whitefish, Mont.
