MRS. ELSIE JANE CESSNA BURIED HERE THIS AFTERNOON

Mrs. Elsie Jane Cessna, widow of John T. Cessna, and for many years a resident of Grinnell died Saturday at 7:45 a.m. in Ames where she moved with her husband in 1922. Mrs. Cessna had passed her 86th birthday on Dec. 1.

She was born Elsie Jane Brown in Le Claire, Iowa, on Dec. 1, 1865. She attended elementary school in Mason City, and was a student in Grinnell college. Later she taught in the Mason City schools, and in Grinnell. On March 22, 1888, she was married in Mason City to John T. Cessna and they established their home in Grinnell. Mr. Cessna was active in community affairs here and served for a time as secretary of the Grinnell fair. Mr. Cessna died in Ames in April of *1945.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Stoddard of Monticello, Ill., Mrs. Blythe Vance of Ames and Mrs. Gladys Hewitt of Des Moines, by one son, John T. Cessna, Jr., of Milwaukee, Wis., eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. There is also a sister, Mrs. Will F. Baker of Decorah.

Funeral services in charge of Rev. W.F. Overhulser were held at the Smith funeral home this afternoon. Organ music was rendered by E.H. Bohstedt and pall bearers were members of the family. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.
