DELBERT CRAWFORD

Delbert Crawford, 69, of Grinnell died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at his home.

A funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 14, at Grinnell Christian Church with John Epperson, pastor of the church, officiating. Casket bearers were Delbert, David and Brian Crawford and Justin, Jeff and Jarod Dillon. Honorary bearers were Vanessa, Jeremiah, Wyatt and Tuesday Crawford and Quinton Dillon. Interment was in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grinnell Regional Hospice.

He was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Grinnell, the son of John and Roxie Anderson Crawford. He attended Grinnell schools and was united in marriage on May 21, 1955, with Rachel Innis in Grinnell. They resided in Grinnell and he worked for 37 years as a machinist with the Maytag Company in Newton. He retired in 1992, then worked part time at DeLong's Sportswear in Grinnell.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, attending country music shows in the Ozarks and attending the school and sporting events of his children and grandchildren. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears.

He is survived by his wife Rachel Crawford of Grinnell; his daughter Diane Dillon of Searsboro and three sons, Delbert Crawford and David Crawford of Grinnell and Brian Crawford of Lynnville; seven grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Max Crawford and one sister Neita Banta.
