EARL MCLAIN'S FUNERAL WEDNESD'Y

Earl Raymond McLain was born in Grinnell, Iowa, October 29, 1900, and departed this life Sunday morning, February 10, 1929, being only a little more than twenty-eight years of age. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel McLain, and spent most of his short life here in Grinnell, having attended its schools, and for the last few years working as clerk in the Gifford Hotel, lately at the new Monroe-Gifford.

Earl was a genial, smiling, optimistic young man, and had many friends. He was industrious and trustworthy, a member of the United Presbyterian church, of which church his parents were charter members. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, which extended the honors of the Order in conducting the service at the grave. Services were held in the church, which was filled to capacity with relatives, friends and members of the church and Masonic order. The pastor, Rev. J.I. Frederick, spoke from the text, "It is the Lord: let Him do what seemeth good in His sight." Mrs. Lydia Hutchison and Paul Lincoln provided the music, singing appropriate selections. Pallbearers were King Porter Carl Hutchison, Frank Ritter, Raymond George, Judson Blakely and Elmer Iverson.

In addition to the bereaved parents, the following members of the bereaved family survive: Mrs. Minnie Gilbert, Grinnell; Harvey Lewis McLain of Rock Island, Harold of Newton; Jesse of Los Angeles; Mrs. Isobel DeFord of Detroit; Dorothy Lucile of Detroit, and Clarence Fred McLain. Another brother, Henry Fred of Indiana is deceased.

These and other relatives have the sympathy of a host of friends, who are commended to God and the word of his grace.
