FRIDAY SERVICES SLATED HERE FOR JOHN CRAWFORD, 83

John M. Crawford, 83, of 623 Center Street, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at a local hospital a few hours after suffering a heart attack while in the Grinnell business district.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Myron Harris, pastor of the Northside Friends church, officiating. Organ music will be provided by Mrs. Willard Heffner.

Serving as pallbearers will be Francis Crawford, Paul Crawford, James Crawford, Robert Crawford, Charles Neagle and Wiliam Neagle. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

The son of J.W. Crawford and Hannah Jane Fetters, he was born in Warren county, Iowa, on May 25, 1882, one of a family of nine children. When he was seven years of age, the family moved to Livonia, Mo., where he attended the local schools.

On December 12, 1912, he was united in marriage with Roxie D. Anderson at Lancaster, Mo. To this union were born one daughter, Mrs. Neita I. Boat, and two sons, Max M. Crawford and Delbert D. Crawford, all of Grinnell.

In addition to his wife, Roxie, and three children, he is survived by 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters: James, Robert, George and Michael Crawford, and Mary Baldwin and Elizabeth, and two others in infancy.

Mr. Crawford had been employed by the City of Grinnell prior to his retirement.
