DONALD BOAT, 46, DIES WEDNESDAY; SERVICES MONDAY

Donald A. Boat, 46, of Grinnell, died at an Iowa City hospital Wednesday evening following failing health the last three years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester E. Custer, minister of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

He was the son of Frank G. and Mae Cook Boat and was born Nov. 10, 1916, at Mason City. He moved with his parents to Newton and later to Grinnell where he continued his schooling.

On Oct. 26, 1941, he was united in marriage with Neita Crawford at Lancaster, Mo., and to this union was born one daughter, Karen, who resides at the home in Grinnell.

In addition to his widow and daughter, Mr. Boat is survived by one brother, Ted Boat of Grinnell; three sisters, Mildred Trabucco of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Maurine Allison of Marshalltown, and Gwendolyn Boat of Woodward; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

In August, 1942, he entered the U.S. Army and served overseas in Normandy, the Ardennes, and the Rhineland. Following his discharge from the army in 1945, he worked as an automobile body repair mechanic for Eddie Anderson and more recently for Onthank Body and Fender.
