OBITUARY

MRS. GILBERT WALLACE

Betty Lucile Thompson was born the daughter of Fred and Alta McLain Thompson on January 26, 1923 at New Sharon, Iowa and passed away at the Story County Hospital at Story City on February 17, 1962 at the age of 39 years and 22 days.

She received her education in the New Sharon schools, graduating with the class of 1940. On July 5, 1941 she was united in marriage with Charles Gilbert Wallace. Two children were born to them, Dana Rodney, age 15 and Nancy Jayne who passed away on October 19, 1951.

She was an active member of the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church, Order of the Eastern Star of which she was a Past Matron, the American Legion Auxiliary and The Hobby club. At the time of her death she was employed by Dr. W.J. Mack as receptionist.

Surviving are her husband, Gilbert; her son, Dana; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thompson of New Sharon, Iowa; two brothers, Max Thompson of Grinnell, Iowa and Gerald Thompson of Brooklyn, Iowa; two nephews and four nieces, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services were held on February 20, 1962 at the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church at Hubbard with the Rev. Arthur Kruetzman officiating. Arrangements were by the Bergman Funeral Home of Radcliffe, Iowa.

Two favorite selections, "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art" were sung by the male quartet of the church.

She was laid to rest beside her daughter in Friends Cemetery at New Sharon with the Eastern Stars of Hubbard in charge.
