NEDRA THOMPSON

Nedra Thompson, 78, of Grinnell died Friday, May 26, at her home.

Funeral services for Nedra Thompson were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell, with Pastor Don Johnston of the church and Pastor Bruce Thompson of the Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa officiating. Organist was Debbie Lombard and vocalist Dave Hanson. Pallbearers included Scott Petersen, Johnathan Kaisand, Zachary, Isaiah and Seth Thompson, Ryan and Daniel Cole, Jim Robbins, Nathan Smith, David Flug, Brian Fincham and Aaron Margene. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery near Grinnell.

Born March 22, 1928, in Chicago, she was the daughter of Ernest and Elizabeth Brand Dotson. She was raised in Des Moines and was a 1946 grad of Valley High in West Des Moines.

On Sept. 4, 1948, she married Howard Thompson, also in Des Moines. The couple made their home in Grinnell, where she was a homemaker.

She was a 58-year member of the Calvary Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for 50 years. She was also active with AWANA and Ladies Missionary Fellowship.

She is survived by six children, Deborah Buck of Barton, Fla., Melinda Kaisand of Newton, Brian Thompson of Grinnell, Jolene Petersen of Independence, Susan Cole of Perry and Bruce Thompson of Oskaloosa and their families; a brother, David Dotson of San Juan, Calif.; a sister, Nelda Koch of Fair Oaks, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Earl Kaisand; and three grandsons, Keith Buck, Benjamin Thompson and Jeff Petersen.
