ETHEL TOMASEK RITES TUESDAY

Ethel E. Tomasek, 79, of 709 Tenth Ave., Grinnell, died Friday, Jan. 31, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad officiating. Organist will be Deanna Acrea, and vocalist will be Marvin Kelley.

Pallbearers will be Leslie Bean, Donald Charnetski, Benjamin Graham, Donald Lambie, William Olson and Paul Van Roekel. Honorary bearers will be Orville Bloethe, Wayne Denny, Hugh McCleery, Albert Pinder, Jerry Roberts, Harris Stafford and Charles Vogel. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of William and Jane Powell Evans, she was born on Jan. 16, 1907, at Williamsburg. She graduated from Williamsburg High School and attended Coe College. She received a B.A. degree in music from the University of Iowa. She taught music and art at schools in Waukee, Perry and Cedar Rapids.

On Oct. 5, 1935, she was married to F.W. Tomasek in Williamsburg. The couple lived in Grinnell where Mrs. Tomasek was a member of the Magoun Club, Pi Rho Lambda and P.E.O. She was also a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational and was active in the Women's Fellowship and the church choir.

Survivors include one son, John D. Tomasek of Grinnell; a daughter, Miriam Freiter of Kingwood, Texas; two grandchildren; and one sister, Ermal Snyder of Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
