JUDY HELEN COFFEY

Judy Helen Coffey, 60, died April 25, 2000 at her home.

Her funeral was April 29 at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Jerry A. Renaud was officiant.

"Candle in the Wind" by Elton John, "Angels Among Us" by Alabama and "Not On Your Love" by Jeff Carson were musical selections. Honorary casket bearers were Dave Kester, Marvin Taylor, Adrian Versendaal, Ronnie Duncan and Ed Sanders.

The daughter of Albert P. and Helen G. Pappas Renaud, Mrs. Coffey was born March 24, 1940 in Grinnell. She was raised and educated in Grinnell and attended Davis Elementary and Grinnell High School.

She married Richard Bortell, later divorced and married Darrell Neville. To this union three children were born, Rick, Kim and Michelle. At that time, Mrs. Coffey worked as a waitress and sold Avon products.

On May 11, 1971, she married David Coffey in Missouri. She worked at Holland Industries as a machine operator in Gilman and Grinnell for almost 20 years.

The couple purchased and operated Poweshiek County Welding Shop and moved to Ewart in 1991. She did bookkeeping for the shop and worked part-time at Cargill Research in Grinnell.

She liked camping and fishing with friends and went to Red Rock and Diamond Lake almost every weekend. Mrs. Coffey also enjoyed motorcycles and she and David traveled throughout the United States. She also like figure-8 races and garage sales and loved to play with her dogs, Buddy and Dinky Girl.

Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, David; one son, Rick L. Neville of Le Grand; two daughters, Kimberly K. Schultz of Montezuma and Michelle M. Cain of Ewart; seven grandchildren, Helle, Cody, and Kaylee Neville, Mark and Jamie Schultz and David and Jeremy Beason. She is also survived by two brothers, Jerry A. Renaud of Windsor Heights and Michael S. Renaud of Tama and one sister, Sally J. Innis of Grinnell.
