ELMER LADELY RITES THURSDAY

Elmer Ladely, 94, who farmed most of his life in the Deep River, Hartwick and Guernsey areas, died Monday, Aug. 26, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty following an extended illness.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 Thursday at the Snyder Funeral Home in West Liberty, with the Rev. Donald Thompson officiating. Organist was Dorothy Mays, and pallbearers were Junior Simpson, Jim Simpson, Rick Simpson, Richard Neipert, Terry McVay and Larry Simpson.

Graveside services were at 2:30 p.m. at Goldenrod Cemetery, Deep River.

The son of William and Cynthia Doty Ladely, he was born on July 24, 1891, at Harper. On Feb. 18, 1913, he was married to Edith D. Van Fossen at Keswick.

Mr. Ladely is survived by two sons, LaVern of Grinnell and Marion of Montezuma; three daughters, Virginia McVay of West Liberty, Lucille Simpson of Grinnell and Luetta Thompson of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Addie Smothers of Belle Plaine; and one brother, Dewey Ladely of New Sharon.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister.
