OBITUARY

JOHN C. THOMAS

John C. Thomas, was born Oct. 13, 1891, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Thomas at Rock Island, Ill. He died Nov. 25, 1954 at Altadena, California of a heart ailment.

He attended Grinnell high school and Aug. 27, 1913, was married to Minnie Selle, who died Sept. 16, 1928. He had farmed in the Grinnell community many years and he and a son had lived together until 1935.

Mr. Thomas came to Iowa from Illinois with his parents in 1898. He went to California five years ago.

Surviving are one son, Jaford of Altadena, Calif., one granddaughter, Jolene; two brothers, Walter of Port Angeles, Wash., and Charles of Malcom; three sisters, Blanch Hutter of Des Moines, Clara Selle of Grinnell and Addie Engles of Oak Park, Ill., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at James Funeral home at Grinnell Dec. 1, with Rev. John DeLong officiating. Burial was at Westfield cemetery. Pallbearers were John Hunter, Jim Hunter, Dick Hunter, Rudy Parker, Harve Wilkins and Roy Pugh.
