DONALD DIMIT RITES FRIDAY

J. Donald Dimit, 67, of 409 High St., Grinnell, died of a heart ailment Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Marshalltown Manor Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell, with the Rev. Raymond Lott, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Military rites will be conducted by members of the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

He was born on March 27, 1920, in Chester Township, the son of Vestal and Jessie Doolittle Dimit. He attended rural school and was a 1937 graduate of Grinnell High School.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and following his discharge worked as a parts man for Wright and Peters Pontiac Garage in Grinnell. He had also worked as a warehouseman for the Cargill Seed Corn Co., as a driver for the U.S. Postal Service, and at the former Robintech plant here. He retired in 1984 from the Cargill elevator in Grinnell.

Mr. Dimit was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Bernece; a daughter, Patti Pedersen of Grinnell; and two brothers, Merle Dimit and Clayton Dimit, both of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his parents.
