MARGARET APOSTLE
Margaret G. Apostle, 76, of Grinnell died after a brief illness Tuesday, July 3, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Grinnell United Church of Christ - Congregational.
She was born March 20, 1925, in Urbana, Ill. She was a graduate of Iowa City High School and the University of Iowa, and she received a master's degree from the University of Northern Iowa.
She was co-owner and publisher of the Peripatetic Press, a well-known collection of Aristotle's translations.
She was a past member of the Governor's Architectural Board, legislative observer for the Iowa League of Women Voters, president of the Grinnell chapter of the League of Women Voters and the Poweshiek County Compensation Board. At the time of her death, she was a board member of the Friends of Stewart Library. She had been an active committee member of the Mayflower.
Her husband, Hippocrates George Apostle, preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Howard of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sons, Stephen of Lawrence, Kan., and Thomas of Geneva, Ill.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Elinor Patterson of Coralville and Jayne Willis and Mary Wylie, both of Sun City, Ariz.
