JOSEPH BERRY SERVICES TODAY

Joseph H. Berry, 82, of 220 Linden Court, Brooklyn, died Monday afternoon at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

The son of George and Elizabeth Shearer Berry, he was born Dec. 15, 1889, in Scotland. He was married to Sylvia Hink Jan. 10, 1917, in Marshalltown. The couple farmed near Grinnell before moving south of Brooklyn. Mr. Berry was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn and had served as a ruling elder. He was a 50-year member of Corinthian Lodge No. 174.

Survivors include his wife Sylvia; three sons, Clyde of Lorimer, Lyle of Montezuma, and Joe of Beeville, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Jack Kinnaird of Kellogg and Mrs. John Van Ersvelde of Brooklyn; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn, with the Rev. Richard L. Menzel officiating.

Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brooklyn, with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
