The Grinnell (IA) Herald; Nov. 25, 1890

Last Saturday morning occurred the death of little Mary Norris of diphtheria. She had been sick since Sunday, most of the time with little hope of recovery. Had she lived until the next day she would have been just eight years old. Mary was a bright, active little girl, among the foremost in her class and always a favorite with her teachers. Her quiet manner, the look of quick intelligence that beamed from her eyes, and her affectionate winning ways made her attractive to all her companions. A life has gone out which gave promise of much good and all will sympathize with Mr. and Mrs. Norris and the brothers and sisters for the loss which they and many friends with them have sustained. The funeral was conducted at the cemetery Saturday afternoon by Rev. H.M. Tenney, only a few friends being present. Mrs. Norris has been sick for some time as the result of over work, but we trust may soon be around again.
