MRS. ELIZABETH BELL

Gilman--Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the United Brethren Hickory Grove church for Mrs. Elizabeth Bell, who died Wednesday afternoon of infirmities of age, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Tilton, six miles southwest of Gilman, where she had been cared for the last year and a half. Rev. Mr. Parcell, pastor of the Newburg Congregational church, had charge of the service.

Elizabeth Preston Bell was born in England, Dec. 29, 1852. As a small chld, she moved to Davenport and later to Jasper county, where she had lived ever since.

She was married in 1870 to Richard Bell, who died in 1921. They were parents of five children, John, Charles, Mrs. Anna Wertz, Mrs. Etta Tilton and Mrs. Nellie Kissock. John and Mrs. Kissock died several years ago. Besides the three remaining children, she is survived by 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Six great-grandchildren acted as pall bearers. Burial was made in the Hickory Grove cemetery. Relatives were present from Des Moines, Montezuma, Albion, Searsboro, Malcom and Grinnell.
