DORIS PARKER

Doris Parker, 78, of Kellogg died of cancer Thursday, Feb. 12, at her home.

A celebration of her life was held Monday, Feb. 16, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell with the Rev. Stephen Jasch, pastor, officiating.

She was born Dec. 18, 1925, in Malcom, the daughter of Harry and Wilhelmina Jochims Rehberg. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school in Sheridan Township, then graduated from Grinnell High School in 1943. She then attended Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, receiving her registered nurse certificate in January, 1947.

On June 15, 1947, she was married to Raymond Parker and they farmed in rural Grinnell. She enjoyed cooking, canning, raising flowers, watching wildlife, hunting for mushrooms and assisting her husband with a walnut business in the fall.

She is survived by her husband; seven children, Ronald Parker, Kensett, Larry Parker, Nevada, Deborah Hecker, Ankeny, Judith Smith, Grinnell, Joyce Cook, Solon, Marcia Thompson, Decorah, and Pamela Ashing, Grinnell; 13 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter Linda.
