DEATH OF W.J. KANE

William John Kane was born in Killanghey, County Down, Ireland, August 20, 1840 and passed away January 7, 1916 at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 18 days.

He came to America in 1869 locating first in Illinois and a few years later moving to Iowa near Brooklyn where he lived at the time of his death. His wife preceded him to the better land three years ago and he leaves to mourn his loss nine children, William of Iowa Falls, Mrs. Mary Clausen of Mason City, Mrs. R.L. Garnett of Cedar Falls, Mrs. W.R. Sloan of Des Moines, Robt. J. of Redfield, S.D., Mrs. Elizabeth Ryan, George, John and Mrs. C.H. Gilmore of Brooklyn. He also leaves two sisters and one brother.

He was a member of the Presbyterian church from early manhood. He was a loving husband, a kind father and upright and honest in all things.

Funeral services were held at the residence on Monday, January 10, conducted by Rev. W.A. Smith of Malcom. Interment in I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Those attending from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. I. Clausen of Mason City, Mr. and Mrs. William Kane of Iowa Falls, Mrs. R.L. Garnett of Cedar Falls, W.R. Sloan of Des Moines, Mrs. Rebecca Cooper of Coal Valley, Ill., and Robt. J. Kane of Redfield, S.D.
