MRS. MAUDE JONES DIES WEDNESDAY; SATURDAY RITES

Mrs. Maude Bell Jones, 77, of Grinnell, died at a local nursing home Wednesday evening following an illness of one week.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester Custer, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

She was the daughter of Alonza and Isabelle Breese Bogart and was born March 7, 1886, near Grinnell, one of a family of six children. Following her education in the local schools, she was united in marriage with William H. Jones.

To this union were born one son, Virgil D. Jones of Grinnell, and one daughter, Norma Jones Downer, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Virgil; one grandson, Billy Ray Downer of Muscatine; and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Todd of Grinnell. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Eugene Todd of Las Vagas, Nev.; Max Todd of Grinnell; Mrs. Fred Schmidt of Grinnell; Mrs. Jerry Wang of Malcom, and Mrs. Sheldon Ahrens of Grinnell.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William, on April 25, 1951; her daughter, Norma, on February 3, 1961; and four brothers, Lonnie, Frank, Harry and Louie Bogart.

Mrs. Jones had lived in Grinnell most of her life and was a member of the Methodist church.
