M.C. HOLLOWAY

M.C. Holloway was born in Mercer county, Pa., August 1, 1844, and enlisted March 22, 1864, at Richland, Ia., in Company H. Thirty-sixth Iowa Infantry. He was discharged at Duvall's Bluffs, Ark., Aug. 24, 1865, having served seventeen months.

Some time after the war he was united in marriage with Mary C. Pike. To this union were born five daughters, Mrs. W.A. Livingston and Mrs. W.V. Hornick of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Omen Bishop of Union, Oregon; Miss Georgiana Holloway, who teaches in Rockwell City, Iowa, and Miss Nelle Holloway of this city.

Mr. Holloway went to Marshalltown January 1 for the purpose of receiving hospital treatment. His plan was to leave April 1 and spend the balance of his days with his family, but one Father planned otherwise and on the morning of March 25, 1908, a voice, unheard by nearest nurse, called him to his reward. His age was sixty-three years, seven months and twenty-four days. His family were all present at the funeral except the daughter who resides in Oregon and who could not come on account of the great distance from her home. His brother, Dr. J.G. Holloway of Ottumwa, Iowa; his sister, Miss Emma Young of Indianola; and sister-in-law, Mrs. W.E. Stewart of Jefferson and nephew, R.E. Holloway of Churdan, were also present.

He was for many years a member of and for some time an elder in the Presbyterian church. On moving to where there was no church of his choice he united with the Methodist Episcopal church of which he was an active member for fifteen years.
