JOHN CAIN, 88, DIES AT MALCOM; FUNERAL FRIDAY

John E. Cain, 88, of Malcom, died on Tuesday morning at a Grinnell rest home following a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 p.m. from the James Funeral Home with the Rev. Otto Zwanziger officiating. Interment will be at Ivy Hill cemetery at Malcom.

Born on Dec. 18, 1868, in Wayne County, Kentucky, he was the son of Jeff and Jane Cain. He was married to Celia Butler on May 6, 1906 at Rankin, Ky., and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in May of 1956.

They farmed in Kentucky for a number of years and moved to the Malcom community about 37 years ago. They had made their home near Malcom since that time.

Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ketzback of Des Moines; a son Frank of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cain was the last member of a family of nine children. He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.
