OBITUARY OF EPHRAIM E. LAMB

Ephraim E. Lamb, son of Tobias and Rachel Lamb, was born near What Cheer in Keokuk County, Iowa, December 11, 1870, and departed this life May 19, 1927, at the age of 56 years, 5 months, and 8 days.

When a boy he moved with his parents to a farm four and one-half miles north of Malcom in Poweshiek county. Finishing the grade school in Poweshiek county and three years at C.C.C.C. in Des Moines, he returned home and remained with his parents on the farm, which he and his brother, W.L. Lamb operated several years after the death of their father in 1899.

On the 21st of February, 1905, he was united in marriage to Viola M. Eisele, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Eisele of Malcom. To this union one son, Earl, was born and was at home with his parents, helping his father operate the home farm located one and one half miles west of Malcom.

August 19, 1900, he, with his two sisters, Mrs. Herb Harness and Mrs. F.E. Kensigner, united with the Methodist church at Malcom, Rev. W.C. Vanschoiack officiating. August 19, 1899, he became a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge, No 369, Malcom, and was an active, true, and loyal worker until his death. He was also a charter member of Poweshiek Rebekah Lodge, No. 67, in which he was captain of the degree staff since it was organized,

And was faithful to the end,
Gone but not forgotten.

He will be greatly missed, not only in the church and orders to which he belonged, but he took an active part in all the best interests of his community. Mr. Lamb was one of the most highly respected citizens of Poweshiek county. He was a clean, honest, upright citizen, a kind husband and father, a very dear brother, a loving and helpful neighbor.

He leaves to mourn his loss besides his stricken wife and son, three brothers, Ralph F. of Newton, W.L. and Harry T. and five sisters, all in Poweshiek County: Mrs. Myrtle Jantzen, Mrs. Sylvia Bolen, Mrs. Addie Mehlin, Mrs. Hattie Harness, and Mrs. Sadie Kensinger, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Methodist church of Malcom, with Rev. Mr. Burdock assisted by Rev. Mr. Aukerman of Malcom in charge.

Pall bearers were Frank Vest, Carl Reedy, Walter Schneckloth, John Eichhorn, Wood Reams, and Thomas Bowers.

Two beautiful solos, "My Savior First of All," and "Going Down the Valley," were beautifully rendered by Mrs. E.B.T. Spencer of Grinnell.

The Rebekahs formed in a body at the church and the Odd Fellows conducted a brief but very impressive service at the grave after which the body was laid to rest in a bed of flowers in the family lot at Ivy Hill Cemetery.
