GARRY W. KERR

Garry W. Kerr, 46, of Des Moines, formerly of Colfax, died Monday March 3, 2003 at his home.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 7, at 1:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home with burial in Hazelwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Smith Funeral Home beginning at 12 noon Thursday. Family members will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Garry Kerr Memorial Fund.

He was born Jan. 9, 1957, in Grinnell to Francis and Ardith Byers Kerr. He was raised in Grinnell and attended Grinnell schools. He later served with the United States Army. He was married in Montezuma to Ruth Kintz and the couple lived in Colfax. The marriage ended in divorce and he later was married to Rhonda Ebert Bair. They lived in Grinnell where he worked at the Donaldson Company and for Wenco of Iowa. He later moved to Des Moines.

He was a member of the National Arbor Day Foundation and the North American Fishing Club.

He is survived by his father Francis M. Kerr Sr., Grinnell; five sisters, Judy Meythaler of Centerville, Linda Kerr and Theresa Wallace of Grinnell, Eileen Kerr of Des Moines, and Rhonda J. Foster of Altoona; four brothers, Francis M. Kerr Jr., James L. Kerr and Ronald Kerr of Grinnell and Brian E. Kerr of O'Fallon, Mo.; one step-daughter and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother Steven A. Kerr.
