ARDITH L. KERR

Ardith L. Kerr, 59, of 615 Pearl St., Grinnell, died of cancer Tuesday, June 12, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Haas, chaplain of Grinnell College, officiating. Pallbearers will be Leslie Fuller, Steven Fuller, and Chris, Cory, Francis Jr., Garry, James and Ron Kerr. Honorary bearers will be Michelle Kerr, Traci Kintz and David Piu.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Clarence and Odessa Grapevine Byers, she was born Sept. 3, 1930, at Bussey, Iowa. She later moved to Knoxville where she attended school.

She was married to Francis M. Kerr Oct. 16, 1948, in Newton. The couple lived there until moving to Grinnell in 1953. Mrs. Kerr had worked as a housekeeper for various homes and businesses. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eagles Lodge.

Surviving are five daughters, Judith Meythaler, Linda Kerr and Rhonda Bortell, all of Grinnell, Eileen Kerr of Des Moines and Theresa Kerr of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; five sons, Francis Jr., James and Garry, all of Grinnell, Brian of St. Louis, Mo., and Ronald of Des Moines; five sisters, Verdell Mack of Dickinson, Texas, Joyce Land of Belleville, Ill., Mary Gourtney of Knoxville, Janice Hesler of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Yvonne Davidson of Chariton; two brothers, Clarence Byers of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Hughey Byers of Newton; and 17 grandchildren.
