NANCY ALICE CARTER

The death of Mrs. Nancy Alice Carter occurred December 22, 1902 at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, where she had been under treatment at the hospital for the past year. She had so far recovered and was expected to return to her home to spend Christmas with her family, but was taken suddenly ill with pneumonia.

She was born in Dayton, Michigan on September 21, 1850. Moved with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Sackett to Iowa in the year 1857. She was married to William Carter in 1872. To them were given three sons and three daughters, all of whom have grown to man and womanhood. Her life was given in loving and devoted service, for her family. The father and children visited her at the hospital during her last illness. She talked to each one, requesting them to meet her in heaven. She was converted and joined the M.E. Church at Fairmount in March 1889. Her body was brought to their home south of Brooklyn, in Scott township, where the funeral service was held on Wednesday at 10:00 by her pastor, who spoke from the text found in 2 Corinthians 4:16, But though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
