MONTE WOMAN DIES AT 92
Sadie McMeekin Johnson, 92, died on June 19 at Grinnell General Hospital.
Services were held on June 21 at the Steffy Funeral Home in Montezuma with burial in the Jackson Township Cemetery also in Montezuma.
Daughter of Robert and Mary Jane Ewart McMeekin, she was born on August 4, 1885 near Montezuma. On July 22, 1913, she married Roscoe Johnson and the couple had three children. Mr. Johnson died on May 3, 1933.
Mrs. Johnson spent her life employed as a cook in several Montezuma cafes.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, one granddaughter, one grandson and three great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Harold of Stockton, Calif., and Raymond of Montezuma; one daughter, Marie Allbee of Grinnell; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Sadie Johnson were conducted by the Rev. Martin Gruneich at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, in the Steffy Funeral Home. Miss Alice Underwood was the organist.
Casket bearers were Rex Johnson, Keith Johnson, Marion Johnson, Chuck Lowry, Mike Johnson and Ray Allbee, Jr. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson died Monday, June 19, at Grinnell General Hospital. She was 92 years old.
The daughter of Robert and Mary Jane Ewart McMeekin, she was born near Montezuma on Aug. 4, 1885. On July 22, 1913, she was married to Roscoe Johnson. For many years, Mrs. Johnson was employed as a cook in various restaurants here.
She is survived by two sons, Harold of Stockton, Calif., and Raymond of Montezuma; a daughter, Marie Allbee of Grinnell; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband died in 1933. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, a granddaughter; a grandson and three great-grandchildren.
