ELI ALLEN DEAD

Eli W. Allen died Tuesday at the Soldiers Home in Marshalltown of a complication of diseases, having gone there some months ago for treatment for diabetes. The deceased was born in 1840 and had lived in Grinnell and vicinity for many years. He was a member of Gordon Granger Post and hosts of warm friends will hear of his death with sadness. His wife survives him.

Funeral services were held this morning at the Friends church conducted by the pastor, Miss Baker and Prof. L.F. Parker. The Herald will publish a more extended obituary notice on Tuesday.
