DEATH CALLS N. WILTAMUTH

Former Respected Resident of Grinnell Passes Away Wednesday at Home in Des Moines

HIS PARENTS EARLY SETTLERS OF WESTFIELD NEIGHBORHOOD.

He Took an Active Part in Community Life during His Residence Here.

Grinnell friends were surprised to know Wednesday of the death of Nicholas Wiltamuth, who died at his home in Des Moines that morning at eight thirty o'clock of hardening of the arteries.

Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Orcutt of Des Moines came to Grinnell Wednesday afternoon to make arrangements for the funeral, and prepare a grave for burial.

Mr. Wiltamuth has been known in Grinnell for a long period of years. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John N. Wiltamuth were among the earlier settlers in the Westfield neighborhood. The home was just over the line in Jasper county on the Bethel church road in Disrict number Seven

He was married January 31, 1875 to Minnie Hartzell, and five years ago they celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage.

After some time spent in farming, Mr. and Mrs. Wiltamuth moved to Grinnell where he entered business. A few years ago they moved to Des Moines, which has been their home since.

His wife, Mrs. N. Wiltamuth, survives his death as do also his four children, Mrs. Charles S. Orcutt of Des Moines, Mrs. Ray Orcutt of Saratoga Springs, Wyoming, Mrs. Ada Fehlman of Moline, Illinois, and Lieutenant Ralph Wiltamuth of Honolulu, Hawaiian Islands.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Congregational church at two o'clock, conducted by Professor J.D. Stoops. Burial was in Hazelwood.
