THELMA ALLEY RITES PENDING

Thelma Louise Alley, 80, formerly of Grinnell, died Sunday, Dec. 2, in Wetzlar, West Germany, where she had made her home.

Graveside services will be held at the Sheridan Cemetery northeast Grinnell when arrangements are complete. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

Miss Alley was born June 8, 1904, and attended Grinnell schools. She also attended Carleton College, the University of Oregon and Columbia University. She held a doctor's degree in classical languages.

During World War II she served as chief warrant officer in the U.S. Women's Army Corps at the Quartermaster Supply Center, Giessen, West Germany.

She is survived by a stepsister, Rowena Haight of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Ray and Bertie White Alley, and a stepbrother, Donald Nichols.
