PAULINE DENNIS

Pauline Dennis, 85, of the Mayflower Home died of heart failure on Thursday, April 9, 1992 at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. on Monday, April 13, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. Raymond C. Lott, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Ms. Susan Todd and vocalist was Mr. Marvin Kelly. Pallbearers were Dwight George, Pete Birchard, Ted Mokricky, Russ Niemants, Al Pinder, and Max Thompson. Burial was (in) Hazelwood Cemetery.

She was the daughter of Alexander and Lucy May Stewart Manson and was born on Dec. 12, 1906 in Wellington, Kan. The family moved to Grinnell, where she graduated from Grinnell High School in 1924 and from Grinnell College in 1929.

She moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1929 and worked as a secretary at the YMCA and later as a life insurance agent for Paul Revere Life Insurance Company. In 1953 she returned to Grinnell and worked as the social editor for The Grinnell Herald-Register.

She also worked as a secetary at the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Grinnell. She attended Drake University in Des Moines and received a teacher's certificate, then taught at Davis School for three years. Prior to her retirement she worked as a hostess at the Forum on the Grinnell College campus. She moved to Mayflower in October, 1974.

She was past president of the Amrican Association of University Women in 1942; a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church; and also a member of the Soroptomist Club of Grinnell.

She has no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Agnes M. Patterson.

Memorials may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church.
